Evolution

It's obvious to say that with our lifestyle comes the need for a refuge. It requires the presence of pret-a-porter islands where we can rest, think and regenerate our mind and body. It is not so obvious to state though, that a chair may do the trick, take you away from obnoxious sounds and frenetic work days. It's name is Evolution, a collection of 3 chairs created by the Spanish born and Holland based designer Nacho Carbonell. It is an object created to guarantee it's users a moment of peace for themselves, from other people, or together with other people.
Obviously again, the material used had to be recycled paper, the harvest of our productive societies. The first piece is called "one man chair" and it is reserved for moments of personal contemplation. The second piece, "the bench", offers an isolation cocoon that allows an escape from the crowd. And the third piece romantically offers a private space for couples protecting them from the curious eyes of the passerby.
In any case, it isn't really the underlying concept as much as the final and formal result of the work; a hybrid of a prehistoric cave, an informal sculpture and an insect's den, that makes this project a true masterpiece.
